DEBORAH A. STRAIN
Ms. Strain is a partner in the Litigation Section at Giarmarco, Mullins & Horton, P.C. and concentrates her practice primarily in the area of Workers' Compensation, but also practices in the areas of family law, general civil litigation, and also handles municipal prosecutions for Van Buren Township. She handles all aspects of Workers' Compensation, litigation including trials, facilitations, pre-litigation negotiations and appeals. Ms Strain also specializes in provider disputes under the Workers' Compensation Health Care Services Rules. Ms. Strain has 16 years of experience in the field of Workers' Compensation litigation.
Ms. Strain's practice includes Workers’ Compensation, litigation, appeals, handling negotiations, file reviews, and making recommendations to employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators, both pre and post litigation. She has presented numerous seminars and legal updates to her clients. She also actively participates in the preparation and production of the Giarmarco, Mullins & Horton, P.C. Workers' Compensation Client Newsletter.
Experience:
Ms. Strain's publications include the Michigan Law & Practice Encyclopedia, Second Edition, Volume #35, Michigan 2005, on Workers' Compensation. Ms. Strain received her undergraduate degree from Grand Valley State University, B.A., and her law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, J.D., She is admitted to practice in Michigan state and federal courts.
Ms. Strain is a member of the Macomb County Bar Association, Oakland County Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan (Council Member, Workers' Compensation Section), Michigan Self-Insurer's Association and Women's Lawyers' Association, and the Michigan Association of School Boards. She is a former member of the Council of Workers' Compensation Section of the State Bar of Michigan. Ms. Strain is actively involved in the Workers' Compensation section and the Michigan Self-Insurers Association.
