DANIEL J. KELLY
Mr. Kelly concentrates his practice in the areas of school and
municipal civil litigation. He has successfully defended numerous
school districts, municipalities, employers, and insurers at all
levels of the litigation process in front of state, federal, and
appellate courts. Given his extensive trial experience, he has
been asked to serve as a court-appointed mediator and lecturer on
issues involving governmental entities, risk management, and
liability exposure; particularly for school districts.
Experience:
Dan is a graduate of University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and
is admitted to practice in all Courts within the State of Michigan,
the U.S. District Court of the State of Michigan, and the Sixth
Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Kelly has successfully appeared on
behalf of government entities in cases before the U.S. Supreme
Court, Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, Michigan Supreme Court, and
Michigan Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Oakland County Bar
Association, State Bar of Michigan, Michigan Trial Lawyers
Association, Association of School Lawyers and the Association of
Trial Lawyers of America. Mr. Kelly completed a fellowship through
the Michigan Political Leadership Program sponsored by Michigan
State University. He completed studies to obtain an associates
certificate in Risk Management for Public Entities, authorized by
AICPCU and IIA. Mr. Kelly has also successfully completed ICLE's
requirements to be selected as a mediator for the Oakland, Macomb,
and Wayne County Courts.
Mr. Kelly resides
in Clarkston with his wife Kathleen and their four children. He was
recently re-elected to a second term as Township Trustee for the
Independence Township Board.
